Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I try or demo one of your rods?

As an e-commerce store we offer our 30 Day Risk Free Trial. This allows you to purchase a new rod, reel or line and try it for 30 days on your own water. If you don't love it send it back and we'll issue a full refund. We even pay for return shipping.

We've now partnered with Los Pinos Fly Shop in Albuquerque, NM and The Reel Life in Santa Fe, NM. Both stock our entire rod line. Stop by and check out the selection, cast a rod and take one home today.

In addition we've partnered with a few select guides that have our rods available for client use:

Where are your rods made?

The Gunnison, The Fryingpan and The Conejos are designed in the USA and manufactured using premium carbon fiber and components we source from Japan and South Korea. These rods are hand crafted in small batches at our facility in the Zhejiang Province of China by experienced and skilled craftsmen and (women), many of whom have been building fly rods for close to 30 years. After assembly these rods are shipped to our location in New Mexico where each rod goes through final inspection and  is carefully packaged prior to shipping.

While we would love to manufacture ALL of our rods in the U.S., it's just not economically feasible to build rods domestically with the level of quality we require and remain competitive from a pricing standpoint. To build ready to ship production rods of similar quality in the U.S. would force us to substantially increase our prices. Virtually all the rods from the domestic companies that we all know and love at a similar price point, are manufactured overseas in the same fashion.

We realize that some out there are turned off by products manufactured overseas and believe that they are inherently inferior. While this may be true in some instances, we've gone to great lengths to ensure that our manufacturing partners are capable of producing products that reflect a level of quality and performance we are proud to put our name on. We've learned that it's not so much where a product is made that ultimately determines the quality, but rather the materials, experience of the craftsmen and the care those craftsmen put into making it.

Why do you send two tip sections with your rods?

We simply wanted to make sure you have a backup. There's nothing worse than getting to the water, breaking off a tip and having your day come to an early end!

Can I purchase one of your products in a fly shop or other brick and mortar store?

Both The Reel Life in Santa Fe, NM and Los Pinos Fly Shop in Albuquerque, NM carry our full line of rods. We are currently working to expand our dealer network to select fly shops. If you own a shop or know of a shop that may be interested in carrying our products, let us know.

Where are you located?

Our company is based in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, close to some of the best fly fishing in the the Southwestern United States. We're fortunate to have great fisheries such as the San Juan, Rio Grande, Pecos and many other wonderful rivers and streams close by.

Who are your products for?

Our products are designed for anyone looking for a high quality rod, reel or other fly fishing equipment at a reasonable price. If you're new to the sport and perhaps looking to upgrade from your entry level rig, our products are a great fit. Our gear performs at a substantially higher level than comparably priced products on the market and is designed to last for years of use on the water. If you typically use more expensive equipment, our rods and reels are great as a backup or to fill in a gap in your quiver. Much of the feedback we get is that our rods, reels and line perform as well or better than equipment from other manufacturers that are 2 or 3 times more expensive.

Can I just purchase a rod blank?

At this time we do not sell only rod blanks.

Do you offer fly line and reels?

Yes! We launched our new reel line in December 2023. See our Reels Page for all the details. Our new fly lines were launched in May of 2024. You can click here for our Fly Line Page.
